What are we using the Flash program to create? Tell me at least 5 terms and explain them that you learned as we did practice with Flash.

We are currently using Flash to create an animated story. Since I'm in Game Design and we haven't gotten into coding yet, I knew most of the things we've learned about Flash so far, but I'll list some of the things that have been introduced in this class.
Stage: The white box in which you draw.
Clipboard: You can draw in this, but it won't show up in your .SWF file. Mostly used for storage.
.FLA: One of the 2 file formats that Flash uses. You can edit this one.
.SWF: The other of the 2 file formats that Flash uses. This plays anything that's on the stage, with or without coding.
Frames: Since Flash is an animation program, you need to be able to animate. Frames are what you use to animate your drawings.

How did your company presentation go? What was the best part? What was the weakest part? What is the main thing you learned during this presentation?

The company project didn't go as bad as I thought it would be, although it was definitely nerve-racking. The best and worst parts aren't exactly clear to me, as they didn't specify anything particularly good or bad, they just said that I needed to add a few things. I did learn, however, that I'd prefer to not take digital imaging 1 or 2... It seems to be more business related than learning aspects of Photoshop and other Adobe programs, which is the main reason that I joined this class.

Reflect on the progress of your company project--3-4 sentences.

The company Jordan and I have created is going quite slowly, since I'm not too terribly sure what exactly I'm supposed to be doing... As for reflecting on progress, not sure about that either... As more and more work keeps piling up, I feel it is becoming increasingly difficult to keep up with it. It just makes it that much more difficult to get this stuff done by the deadline.

Review this semester. What activities have you enjoyed and why? Why activities have you not enjoyed and why? Upload your favorite piece of work so far and explain why it is your favorite.

My favorite activities have been creating the logos. They gave me the chance to work with Photoshop and Illustrator. My least favorite activity was by far the business plan. I'm not particularly fond of making stuff up, which is pretty much what Jordan and I had to do for about half of the project because we had just created the company only a few weeks ago.

Upload your favorite logo. Explain how you made it. Explain why it is your favorite.
Not the easiest logo I've made, probably the biggest pain, but I like it the best. (Maybe that's why it's my favorite?) As for how I made it: I made three spheres in PS. Then, I squashed them down to make them look like they do now, textured the top and bottom ones and colored then brown, and changed the middle one's color slightly to make it white. Next was the text, not hard since I've done it on a few other of the logos I've made. When it was first made, it looked hollow, so I took 2 black ovals and sized them so it gave the effect of chocolate chips.

What are the eight parts of the business plan your were assigned?
The 8 parts of a business plan are Executive Summary, Company Description, Market Analysis, Organization & Management, Service or Product Line, Marketing & Sales, Funding Request, and Financial Projections.

Is that different then you thought?
Yes, I thought it was going to be almost totally different than before I found out what it was.

What are the issues you have had so far writing your plan?
The problems I come across are in things like the marketing aspect. Because this is a school-made company for a project, there will be no real marketing.

What has been easy?
The easiest thing by far has been making the product. I honestly thought it would be harder compared to the plan, but the plan has been a difficult experience.

What do you think goes in a business plan? What are the parts? Is research involved? What facts do you need to know, if any? Where could you find this information?
I think that a business plan is what someone plans to do with the business's future, as in goals and such. As I do not know exactly what a business is, I can only assume that a business plan would have things such as the goals of the business and how to achieve them. Facts you would need to know, You would need to know what your business would be doing, be it production or office work or whatever. If you don't know what your business is going to be based on, you really need to stop skipping ahead to a plan and start prioritizing...

Explain at least two difference between Photoshop and Illustrator. Which one do you like better and why?
One difference between Illustrator and Photoshop is that Illustrator uses vectors, while Photoshop uses pixels, making Illustrator better for changing an image size because it won't get pixelated. Another thing would be in my opinion, but Photoshop makes it easier to access the 3-Dimensional properties it has. I still don't know how to fully utilize the 3D abilities of Illustrator, but upon further use, I hope to discover how to use it.

EQ 2--What has been your favorite project so far and why? Upload the project and explain why it has been your favorite.

My favorite project by far was the creating of logos, I loved as it was called "playing" in Photoshop. Experimenting with different aspects of Photoshop was fun as we could create anything we wanted as long as it was appropriate for school and was relevant to our company. Out of the logos I made, my favorite were the two 3 Dimensional logos I made. (See Below) They took about half the class each, but they were worth it.

EQ 1

EQ 1--What do you need to do to start a business? Try to list and explain at least 5 things that you would need to consider.

1. The first things you need are a few ideas about your business, what you want it to be named, if you're producing then what you want to produce, etc.

2. The next thing you will need is the finance to get your business started. You will need to hire employees and buy equipment with your own money until you make enough profit to manage those things.

3. You need the knowledge or someone with the knowledge to run your business, transactions, taking calls, etc.

4. Most likely you will need the property to place your business on, unless you are running the business out of your house, which is fine for small, family businesses, but for larger, corporate businesses, you need the area to make a separate building for your business.

5. It's best to advertise your business until you get enough customers for your business to spread between people faster than it spreads through the papers.
